WHAT’S NEW – 31 October 2025:
Backgrounder: Internet Infrastructure and Climate Resilience
Phase 2: Visions and experiences of Internet infrastructure resilience
Workstream 1: Internet resilience in action Mapping exercise
Workstream 2: “Fit for what purpose” scenario exercise
Workstream 3: Envisioning data best practice
The Internet Infrastructure Climate Resilience (IICR) project is participatory action research being led by Dr Ellen Strickland and the team at Brainbox during 2025 and early 2026.
The project centres around a network of people with a range of backgrounds and expertise who are the main engine room of the work. The IICR Network helps to inform what we focus on, how we work together, and what we end up recommending or creating.
This Notion page provides IICR Network members with information about the project, upcoming activities and other key dates.
This page will be updated and added to over the course of the project.
The research project has adopted some key documents to guide collaboration, including:
Version1_IICR Network_ Framework.pdf
Version1_IICR Network_ Community Participation Guidelines.pdf
The IICR Network’s activities are taking place across four phases. A high level overview is below, and more detailed information will be added about each phase as the project progresses.
Each phase will last for two to three months and include at least one online meeting with all members of the wider network, with more focused and specific research activities taking place in between. In addition, there will be ongoing work led by the project team to ensure that te ao Māori and community perspectives are incorporated throughout the project.
Network members can engage with the research in a capacity that fits their interest and availability. There will be flexible online activities and ways for the network to connect around themes and subtopics, including meetings and workshops, an email list and Discord groups.
These activities will be designed as we go and carried out by groups of participants from the Network.
